The Doha International Book Fair is one of the oldest and most prestigious book fairs in the Middle East. Organised annually by the Qatar Ministry of Culture, it attracts hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors from across the Arab world and beyond, aiming to promote reading, cultural dialogue, and editorial discovery. An international event, it hosts major publishers, authors, intellectuals, and publishing professionals, transforming Doha into a vibrant cultural hub for ten days.
For the 2024 edition, LetzFair was chosen to provide visitors with a simple, functional, and integrated digital experience. The goal was clear: help people make the most of the fair, easily navigating through the numerous pavilions, stands, and titles on offer.
Together with our Danish partner MapsPeople, specialists in digital maps and indoor navigation, we developed a fully bilingual app (English and Arabic), featuring an interactive map designed to facilitate real-time orientation within the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.
Every exhibitor was viewable in the app with all essential information, while indoor navigation allowed visitors to pinpoint their destinations and build a personalised visit route. A lightweight, strategic solution designed to guide each visitor towards what truly matters, without distraction.
The Doha International Book Fair was an exciting and significant challenge for LetzFair. It was our first project entirely developed in Arabic, with all necessary adaptations to ensure a natural, fluid, and intuitive user experience for all audiences. It also marked the official debut of our integrated indoor mapping system, a technology that combines orientation and interactivity with high precision.
A concrete demonstration that, even in large cultural contexts, innovation is about relevance, not quantity. With a few carefully chosen tools, it was possible to create an effective and context-sensitive digital experience, turning a fair visit into a personal, conscious, and enriching journey of discovery.
